PermitAssist ("we", "our", "the Service") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Email address — collected when you sign up for the email gate or create an account
• Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never store your credit card details
• Job tracker data — permit jobs you choose to save (job name, city, state, trade, status)

Information collected automatically:

• Usage data — lookup counts stored locally in your browser (localStorage/IndexedDB)
• Search queries — permit queries you submit may be logged for quality improvement
• Device/browser info — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, referring URL)

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the Service
• To send permit expiry reminders (if you opt in)
• To process subscription payments via Stripe
• To communicate important service updates
• To analyze aggregate usage patterns and improve AI accuracy

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.

3. Data Storage

Your email address and job tracker data are stored securely on our servers hosted by Railway (railway.app). Lookup history and preferences are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy
• OpenAI — AI-generated permit research. Queries may be processed by OpenAI's API
• Tavily — web search for live permit data
• Railway — hosting and infrastructure
• Google Fonts — font delivery

5. Cookies and Local Storage

PermitAssist uses browser localStorage and IndexedDB to store your lookup history and preferences locally on your device. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking tools.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
• Portability — request an export of your data in a common format
• Opt-out — unsubscribe from emails at any time

7. Data Retention

We retain your email address and job data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription or request deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

PermitAssist is intended for use by adults and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

9. California Residents (CCPA)
